Strength To Resist Samuel Dhinakaran
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in… and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).
Sin gives momentary joy and steals the eternal pleasures from your life. To resist the devil, Jesus has promised, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in… and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Yearn for God’s spirit and be protected.
We read in the Bible the temptations encountered by Samson (Judges, chapters 13-16). We see him going around with the strength of God fulfilling God’s will and purposes. Then intruded Delilah! Samson started to slow down in his race set by God. She lured him many times. Samson resisted her a little bit, but then he couldn’t keep it up. He gave way for Delilah to take control of his life. He told her the secret that which God had told to keep it to himself. He thought he can let the devil in through one side and also continue serving God. That is against God’s principle. At the end, he lost his divine strength and ended up captivated by his enemies and eventually was blinded by them.
Sin often comes dressed in an adorable guise. Kick it off as soon as you identify it. Else, you will be ruined. As the enemy roars as a lion, confess aloud with faith, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). This would chop off the already-mangled head of the devil. Beloved, you can say “No” to every sin that appeals to you as pleasurable one and wearing a charming mask. When Martin Luther was asked how he overcame the devil, he replied, “Well, when he comes knocking at the door of my heart and asks ‘Who lives here?’ the dear Lord Jesus goes to the door and says, “Martin Luther used to live here, but he has moved out. Now I live here.” When the Spirit of God fills our lives, Satan has no entrance. Be filled with passion for God’s word and His presence. Spend more time in prayer. Be surrounded by healthy friends. Live a joyful life in the Lord!
Prayer:
Dear Father,
Fill me with Your power to resist the devil. Help me not to yield to pleasures of sin. Open my eyes and ears to know more of Your love. Grace me to maintain the strength of my physical body so that my mind stays focused and my spirit remains ignited. May Your purpose be fulfilled in my life surpassing all distractions and deviations.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
