Joy of the Lord abides in you! – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:11)
These days, a large number of people have completely lost the ‘joy’ in their lives and live in tears. But, see what a great blessing the Lord has given to us through the above word of promise. So, if you seek the Lord Jesus Christ devotedly and faithfully, He will first give you the “joy of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3) and then the “joy of the Holy Spirit” (Luke 11:13). This is the joy “which is inexpressible and full of glory” (I Peter 1:8).
A servant of God lost all of his three children, one after another and his wife also died, as she could not bear this irreparable loss. Thereafter, this man of God started to wallow in loneliness and tried to commit suicide. But he failed in all his attempts since someone would come and save him every time. One day, he decided to kill himself somehow. So, he closed all the doors and opened a bottle of poison to drink it. Then, all of a sudden, a divine joy filled his heart and he started to laugh and he continued laughing as he was unable to control himself. Hearing this sound, his friends came running and knocked at his door. When he opened the door, they saw his uncontrollable laughter and thought that he had lost his mental balance. But he explained to them that a divine joy descended upon him and made him forget all his sorrows.
Yes my dearly beloved! You too should not give any room for unwanted worries and fears today. David considered the Lord as his “Rock and Fortress” and held fast to Him. The Lord was his only hope when he had to pass through very agonizing moments in his life. Every time, he strengthened himself in the Lord all through his life. Therefore, the Lord graciously changed his situation and made him receive this divine joy in his life. To receive this hope and joy in your family, hold fast to the Lord Jesus Christ from this day onwards and trust Him with all your heart. If you do this, you will then receive the salvation and the fullness of the Holy Spirit which imparts this divine joy in your life.
Prayer:
O Precious Father!
Change all the shortcomings found in my life and grant me the grace to abide in You by giving me a new hope and a new life today. This day, take away all the worries and the tears in my life and fill me with your divine joy of salvation and the joy of the Holy Spirit. I surrender to you with the faith that You will perfect all things that concern me. In the incomparable name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray, O Father, Amen.
