Help in trouble – Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
“In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.” (Psalm 86:7)
In this world, when troubles, sufferings and unexpected trials come one after another, we struggle very much in pain and agony. This is something experienced by every human being born in this world and it is very bitter (Isaiah 38:17). Lack of money when it is absolutely necessary, sickness and many other needs worry us. How happy we would be if someone helps us at these critical times! Yes! This is the way our Lord Jesus comes into our life to wipe away our tears by loving and comforting us (Isaiah 61:3).
Once, in the Roman Empire, a slave ran away into the forest to escape from his cruel master. There, when he was hiding behind the bushes, he heard a groan. When he went near to see what it was, he saw a lion groaning with a big thorn in its leg. It was in great pain. Though he was scared of the lion, he went near and pulled out the thorn slowly. That is all! The lion looked at him for a moment as if it was thanking him and then ran away and disappeared in the forest. The slave was glad that he escaped from its clutches. Again, he hid himself behind the bushes. But soon, he was captured by the soldiers of his master and put behind the bars. Then, he was sentenced to death. It was the custom in that country to throw such prisoners before hungry lions. Accordingly, this slave was also thrown before a hungry lion. The lion came roaring to devour him. But, this lion slowed down its pace when it looked at him. And it came near and sat down quietly at his feet. The people who saw this were surprised and started applauding! The king asked the slave the reason for this strange incident. He explained to the king how he had helped this lion in the forest sometime back. All were taken aback by his narration. Together they decided to release this man whom the lion refused to kill and devour.
God wants us to approach His throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). When we seek God for His help, God’s saving help will surely be our shield and His help will make us great (Psalms 18:35). We need not run to people for help. Those who find their help from God will be satisfied with the favour He offers for it will be beyond their expectation.
Prayer:
My Helper and my God,
I come to your throne of grace seeking Your help during these troubled times. May Your protection surround me and my loved ones and help us to stay safe from all the harm that seems to threaten us. Lord, you alone can meet my needs. I give all my cares into Your hands. Let Your saving help by my shield.
In Jesus Name I pray,
Amen.
