Blessing In Giving Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap” (Luke 6:38)
In giving, you find happiness and fulfilment of God’s commands. Yes, God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). The key to receive more from God is in giving what you have! Don’t we read this in the Bible, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap” (Luke 6:38). It not only means money but also a kind and encouraging word; using your talent to bless others and using your authority to do good to people around and to the nation. He eagerly waits to bless you in everything you put your hand to. What is in your hand today? Give it to God for Him to multiply it. In the Bible, John 6:1-14 records a little boy who gave five loaves of bread and two small fish to Jesus and a great multitude was fed.
William Colgate had a successful business career. What was the reason? History has recorded that when he was sixteen years old, he left home to find employment in the New York City. He had previously worked in a soap manufacturing company. When he told the captain of the canal boat upon which he was travelling that he planned to make soap in New York City, the man gave him this advice: “Someone will soon be the leading soap maker in New York. You can be that person. But you must never lose sight of the fact that the soap you make has been given to you by God. Honour Him by sharing what you earn. Begin by tithing all you receive.” William Colgate recognized that God was the giver of all that he possessed, including the components which were used to manufacture his products. With this thought in mind, he started to tithe from day one even from the meagre profits he earned. With faithful tithing everyday, his business increased and he tithed more and his business grew exponentially which led him to become a billionaire.
The Lord who filled the heaven and the earth with His beauty and wonders will fill you too with His rich ideas, wisdom, talents and even people. You will not lack any good thing. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). When you do so, God will step in and make you a blessing to the nation. As you open your hands for building the kingdom to God and people, you will see the reservoir of blessing unleashed upon your life. Bible promises, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).
Prayer:
Dear Father,
Today I choose to bless others with what I have. Let all that belongs to me bless others by some means. Lord, make my time, talent and treasure a blessing for others. Let the desire to give for establishing Your kingdom, fill me and increase in me.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
