Walk with Jesus, you will find rest – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16

My precious friend, today’s promise is taken from Jeremiah 6:16 which says “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” Accordingly, it is imperative that we should know the way that we should walk in.

Job, in the Bible, says, “You know the way, the path that I have walked on, O Lord. After You have tried me, I will come forth as gold.” God has a path for everyone. Sometimes the path would be smooth. Sometimes the path may be rocky and filled with thorns. There are other times when the path may be a lonely path. Sometimes, God would be leading you on a new path which nobody has tread on. In such a case, you will have no model to follow as God makes you embark on that new path. In this manner, God has different paths for you. But the Lord Jesus says to you, “I am the way, my child. Whatever path I have destined for you, it does not matter. I will be the way for you.” All He expects is to ‘deny yourself daily, take up your cross and follow Him.’ Today the Lord Jesus is looking at you and saying, “My child, whether it’s a new path or a lonely path; whether it’s a path of smooth sailing or whether it’s a path of stones and thorns, I, Jesus, have gone through that path for you. Just take up your cross and surrender to Me every day and follow Me. And you will find rest in your soul as you walk on that path led by Me.”

There is a beautiful poem which is called “Footprints on the Sand”. A lady was holding the hands of the Lord and walking on the beach. As she looked back, she saw two pairs of footprints. One was the footprint of Jesus and the other was hers. But as the path went into rough terrain with thorns, wild bushes and rocks, she saw only one pair of footprints. With tears in her eyes, she looked to the Lord and said “Father, where is Your footprint? When I walked through the valley and the path of tears only one set of footprints is there! Why did you leave me? Why did you allow me to go on all alone? But then she heard the voice of the Lord Jesus saying, “My daughter, those set of footprints are not yours. They are mine. When you had to walk through these rough terrains, I never let you walk instead I carried you along the way.” My friend, Jesus will carry you through your path. Let not your heart be troubled. The one who carried the cross for you will carry all your burdens and make you walk through the path which He has destined for you.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your loving promise. Lord, I thank You for the path You have destined for me. I also thank You for not leaving my side. I love You, Lord Jesus. Lord, I commit my life into Your loving hands and I am willing to walk on the path You have planned for me. I trust in You, Lord. Thank You for carrying me in Your arms and leading me to the promised blessings. Let Your name alone be glorified. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
