Helper of the outcast – Samuel Dhinakaran

“Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.” (Psalm 146:5)

My dear friend, are you well? God always desires that you should be well, and that is why He has come to speak to you mercifully. He is promising you something good today, which is found in Psalm 146:5 “Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.” We look at the God of Jacob being a helper. What special help did God give Jacob? It was at the time when he became an outcast being cast away from his house because of his brother’s anger against him. Jacob had tricked his brother and was sent away from his home into the streets. Jacob was his mother’s favorite son, but she sent him out to protect him from his brother’s anger.

Friend, Imagine how his life would have become! Your situation might be different but is it making you feel outcast? Are you being sidelined in your office or ignored by everyone at home? You might be an outcast where you are and not fitting in. Friend, this is when God saw Jacob. Sometimes, you are thrown out due to your own mistakes and sins. Jacob recognized it and said that he had tricked his brother and asked forgiveness from both God and his brother.
Today, I ask you to do the same. Yes friend, seek forgiveness and then God will be merciful to be your helper. Sometimes, people treat you badly out of anger and just because they do not like you. Do not worry my friend. This verse says to put your hope in the Lord. As Jacob trusted the Lord, Jacob was helped by God in his path to find all his blessings. God showed Jacob a way to find a wife and to accumulate plenty of wealth in life. God brought him back to his home and formed a nation out of him. God gave him a royal place from being an outcast. God will do the same for you.
Prayer:
My loving Heavenly Father,

Thank You for today’s promise. Thank You for taking care of me and wanting me to be happy. I give all my disappointments and rejections into Your hands. Guide me in Your path so that I will fulfill Your plan in my life. Help me to bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
