You are Highly Favoured and Honoured – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
My precious friend, loving greetings! Today’s blessing verse is taken from Proverbs 3:4, which says, “You will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man”.
Getting a good name from both man and God is so difficult. Many times, those who are highly regarded by society may not have a good standing before God. And sometimes, those who have a good name in following God and honouring Him are despised by the world. However, the Bible assures us that God will grant us favour and a good name in the sight of both God and man. Yes, you will be secure on both sides! Proverbs 22:1 states that “a good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold,” and Ecclesiastes 7:1 reminds us that “a good name is better than fine perfume.” Therefore, having a good name is of utmost importance, and God desires to bless you with it. Jesus Himself was a great example of this. According to Luke 24:19, Jesus was a mighty prophet in both word and deed before God and man.
Similarly, Daniel was a man who had an unblemished character before God and man. Although some people, out of jealousy, plotted against him and accused him of not worshipping the king, God granted him favour in the king’s eyes and tremendous protection. Even when he was thrown into the lions’ den, God sent an angel to protect him. When the king came to enquire whether he was alive, Daniel shouted unharmed from the lions’ den, saying, “God sent an angel and bound the mouths of the lions because I was without sin before God and you, O king.” Likewise, God will protect you from all the wicked schemes of the people and grant you favour and a good name before God, people and the king.
PRAYER:
Loving Lord, I am so grateful for Your wonderful promise. Thank You for fighting my battles and protecting me from the wicked schemes of my enemies. Lord, every good and perfect gift can come from You alone. I trust in Your promise that You will bless me with favour and a good name before You and all people so that Your name can be glorified in and through me. Please help me to live a blameless life before You and to receive abundant blessings from Your hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
