“Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem; He will shield it and deliver it.” Isaiah 31:5

Dear child of God, I greet you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Today we are going to meditate on a beautiful verse from the Bible which is in Isaiah 31:5, “Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem; He will shield it and deliver it.” Accordingly, the Lord will cover you and protect you like the birds of the air because you are His dear child. 

David lovingly says of the Lord in Psalm 23 that He is his Shepherd and that David is the sheep. He also says that just like a shepherd who is always with the sheep and goes before the sheep, the Lord will also be with him always, lead him and protect him and take care of all his needs. This is the God we serve! II Samuel 22:19 also affirms that the Lord is your only support. How do you acquire this divine protection of the Lord? If you read Psalm 121:1,2 David writes like this: ‘I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From where my help comes.’ Here, the term ‘Hills’ means the All-Powerful God Almighty! In other words, this verse encourages you to look to the Lord always and trust that He will take very good care of you. This is applicable to your every situation, every struggle, every calamity and worry. This can be seen reiterated in Psalm 91:1,2 where it emphasises to abide under the shadow of the Almighty God. When you thus abide in Him, He will become your refuge and fortress, providing you protection on all sides (Psalm 18:1,2). The heart of our Lord Jesus is like that of the heart of a mother hen which protects her young ones from harm as He says in Luke 13:34 “how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings”. The Bible verses Exodus 19:4 and Deuteronomy 32:11,12 also compares God’s care to that of an eagle’s care when it says “I carried you on eagle’s wings” and “Like an eagle that…hovers over its young.” 

My beloved child of God, the Lord promises you today that just like a hen or an eagle that nurtures and vehemently protects their young ones, so will the Lord protect you on all sides. So, look unto the Lord, today and seek His help to come out of all our problems. He will grant you peace and joy and will cover you under His mighty wings of refuge. Nothing can harm you!

PRAYER: Precious Heavenly Father, I come before Your throne seeking Your help and divine protection. Lord, I am so grateful that You have a mother’s heart. Even now, I look up to You from where my help comes. I am Your child. I thank You for always being with me in times of trouble and for liberating me. Lord, I believe that You will deliver me from all evil and keep me safe and secure under Your wings. I pray that I will always abide and take refuge under Your shadow always.
