Fear and trust the LORD
Fear And Trust The Lord
“How great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You”. (Psalm 31:19)
From the above verse, we learn two things: firstly, God will shower His goodness on those who fear Him and secondly, to receive His goodness we need to have a strong faith in Him. As quoted in Psalm 23, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” The fear that the Bible talks about is not perceiving God as the ‘angry Lord who is waiting to penalize you for your mistakes’. On the contrary, it’s the respect that we show Him to lead a righteous life so as not to displease our Heavenly Father. Our God is a merciful God who abounds in incredible, unfathomable and steadfast love. So, you can run to Him at any time, irrespective of who you are.
The second aspect is to believe in Him and not to waver in faith. Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid; only believe” (Luke 8:50). When Jairus’s (official in the local synagogue) daughter was unwell, He approached Jesus and requested Him to heal his daughter. However, since the crowd was pressing on Jesus, He couldn’t reach the official’s house. During this time, the daughter of Jairus passed away. But Jesus told him to ‘believe.’ Jesus worked a miracle for him by bringing his daughter back to life (Luke 8:53-55).
SCRIPTURE to LIFE
Trust the Lord, and you too shall witness miracles in your life. Though you may reason it’s too late and nothing can happen. However, now is the time the Lord will work wonders in your life so that people around you are astounded at God’s glory. As the famous quote goes, ‘Our end is God’s beginning.’ So, you have to follow two things; fear the Lord and have unwavering faith in Him.
Prayer:
Loving God, I give You all the honor and praise and You alone deserve all the glory. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit to lead a life pleasing and acceptable to you. Help me to always trust you, even in my darkest moments. You alone can bring all the things that are impossible to pass.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
