Faith Over Fear

Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. (1 Corinthians 12:31)

There are times when you may be having a very strong faith “theoretically” but pragmatically your faith may be not even as that of a size of the mustard seed. And therefore when people testify of the miracles performed by the Lord, it will kindle your faith.

Also, when you are given a chance to share the good news, followed by praying for the people to receive their miracles and healing; you begin to doubt and you are gripped with fear. You fear, whether or not the people gathered will receive the miracle or not. However, the Bible tells us, “Now eagerly desire the greater gifts” ( 1 Corinthians12:31). And one of the greater gifts is the gift of faith. Whenever fear dominates, the gift of faith will operate within you and you will begin to call out for testimonies.

In the year 1981, I had been to Nagpur city, in North India; to conduct the Gospel meetings. Until then I was just preaching and praying and would never stay back for the people to share their testimonies.Though, I used to call out names as led by the Holy Spirit and narrate the lives of people; I would immediately leave after the service got over. During those days, there was a very dear friend of mine; named Glady Easwararaj. And whenever, I had meetings in North India he used to be the one, leading the worship. Even during that meeting, he led the congregation in worship to the song of “ He touched me”. And during the final prayer, led by the Holy Spirit I called out the names of people and as usual, left the venue after the meeting was over. However, Br. Glady Easwararaj called out to the people, whose names were called by God, to step forward and testify of the miracle they received. Within no time, the people walked up the platform and shared their testimony. That very same night, the meeting went up till 11’o clock and everyone enjoyed the glorious presence. When this br. returned home it was late and he told me, “br. since you didn’t call for testimonies, I did your job”.

My beloved, this is how the gift of faith works. Br. Glady had this gift and so he took the bold step of calling the people to share their praise reports. Due to fear I couldn’t do what he did. And that’s how the gift of faith works in conjunction with other gifts. It cannot work independently. To encourage you from the word of God, “For the Spirit God gave us, does not make us timid, but gives us power…” (2 Timothy 1:7). Thus, it is through this power that you will be able to overcome fear of any kind in your life. Today, if you feel you are lacking this precious gift in your life, then pray to the Lord and He will bless you with it.

Prayer:
Mighty God,I can do nothing without the gift of faith. Today, I humbly pray for this gift that you bless me with. Drive away all fear from me and help me to proclaim your great works.

In Jesus name, I pray.

Amen
