Safe Under His Protection

“His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91:4)
During medieval warfare, the shield and buckler were used as defense armours. The buckler is a smaller version of the shield, but both were used to defend and deflect the enemy’s strike. The psalmist paints a picture of divine protection in this particular Psalm. God’s faithfulness is our protection. When you trust God and believe His Words; you are surrounded with divine protection.

In the Bible, we read about Ruth. She was a complete stranger to the God of Israel. However, she married an Israelite. Years later, when her husband died, she lived in great agony. Nevertheless, she was affectionate to her mother-in-law, Naomi and would not leave her at any cost, even though Naomi asked her to return to her mother’s place. When she observed the piety of Naomi, she surrendered to her by declaring “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God” (Ruth 1:16).
Ruth exhibited her loyalty to the household in times of loss, pain, and famine. God rewarded her faithfulness by establishing her family once again and protecting the entire household.
SCRIPTURE to LIFE

When you are faithful in obeying God’s statutes and by placing your firm trust in the Lord, you not only have the assurance of being blessed but also have divine protection. As mentioned in the Bible, “He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments”, (Deuteronomy 7:9) and also, “Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence” (Psalm 91:3). Therefore, there’s nothing to fear as you are surrounded by His divine protection.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father, I thank You for surrounding me with divine protection. I seek Your grace to lead a life pleasing and acceptable in your sight. Strengthen me in times of troubles and tribulations.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
