GOD who comforts you! – Bro. D.G.S Dhinakaran
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 66: 13).
Are life’s burdens overwhelming you? Are you wishing there were someone to share them with you? Do you know there is a person waiting to accompany you in this struggle and redeem you. Yes! The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:3 “The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.”
Many incidents leave us comfortless. Bereavement is one of them. When the news came that Jacob’s son Joseph had died, he tore his clothes, and girded himself with his loins, and mourned for his son many days. And all his sons and daughters stood up to comfort him. But he would not be comforted. He refused to be comforted. “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.” (Genesis 37: 33-35).
There was an atheist in the United States. One day his brother, whom he loved dearly, died. He loved him and could not accept his brother’s closet. “My dear brother, where are you going? I cry for you. The voice I hear is echoing over the grave, near the grave. You have not come, my brother.” Even though this was a hopeless lament, his brother’s death broke his heart.
Dearly beloved, Lord Jesus came to this world to comfort all the afflicted (Isaiah 61: 2). He had the experience of mourning while he was in the world. That is why he understands our pain. The man who has no worries is out of this world. But one can do it among the concerns. Let us pour our hearts into the feet of our loving Lord. Why should we leave the comforting God? The Bible says, “As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; And ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:13). He will comfort us according to this word.
Prayer:
Our loving heavenly Father,
Thank you Lord for being the God of comfort. I give all my worries and pain into your hands. Help me to rest assured that you will take care of everything on my behalf. Comfort me with your word and make me happy. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen.
