How to be filled with DIVINE PEACE
Today, many families languish in tears, without true divine peace. That’s why the Lord Jesus Christ was born in this world as the Prince of peace and the God of peace. Let us read on how to get filled with this divine peace, meditate on it and receive God’s blessings.
“Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it’ (Psalm 34:14)
My dear ones, according to this verse, when we get filled with the joy of salvation given by the Lord, having laid aside every sin, and do only the things pleasing to God, we become His own children. He washes and cleanses our old life with His blood, gives us new life and lovingly changes us into His children. Perhaps we may not have a father and mother in this world. However, the Lord says that He is giving us the Spirit of adoption to call Him, ‘Abba, Father’ (Romans 8:15). What a great privilege! Let us examine our lives in these days of Christmas. How to live as His own children and please Him?
Look at the life of the Lord Jesus Christ! He lived as an example for us in every way. In several places in the Bible, we read God saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17; Luke 3:22). In that case, it is necessary that we too live a pleasing life to God just as how He showed us and do everything accordingly. When we thus do everything – big or small – in reverence and in righteous ways, pleasing to God, He too would be pleased with our life. In this world, even in the pitiable state when everyone forsakes you and when there is no one to show you love, Jesus will be sufficient for you. About this His followers sing, ‘He is sufficient…’
My dear sisters, the Lord Jesus Christ is your Savior at all times and is sufficient for you in everything. Think how far you are holding on to Him! If you are far away from Him, run into His love right now. Take refuge in those loving hands, which stretches forth and calls out to you as a loving Father! This is the Spirit of adoption of calling Him, ‘Abba, Father’ (Ephesians 1:6; Galatians 4:6). This is the first step for us to receive His divine peace.
Here’s an important thing that I always write about my life. In my young days, I longed for my parents’ love and had no peace because of that. That time I just had the experience that, ‘The Lord Jesus Christ is good’. I did not have any other deep spiritual experience. At this juncture, the Lord took it as a good chance and came seeking for me. The presence of God came into my room and His love filled me. The Lord who said, “I am the Lord of love who gives you peace’, joined me with Him with His love. Since then I stopped missing my parents and received the divine experience of looking up to the Lord alone under all situations, calling Him, ‘Abba, Father’ and holding on to Him firmly. By this I received the divine peace abundantly.
My dear young children, please do not live as you wish and ruin your life. The Lord is with you and wants to be a Father to you in every way. Would you commit your life today in order to receive the joy of His salvation and His peace abundantly?
How does divine peace come into us?
The Lord Jesus Christ was incarnate in this world as the Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6). ‘The chastisement for our peace was upon Him’ (Isaiah 53:5). According to this verse, in order that we are filled with the divine peace, the Lord Jesus Christ offered Himself as a living sacrifice on the cross. Hence, without looking up to the cross, we cannot receive the peace of God, through any other means. So, dear sisters, look up to the cross right now, no matter how ruined your life is or how deep you are in sin. No one who has ever looked up to the cross has perished. Today, humble yourself at the feet of the Lord and plead with Him with tears saying, “Lord, please change my miserable life of perdition and filth at once. You offered Yourself on the cross to be beaten and wounded in order to give me forgiveness of sin and peace”. The Lord will see your pleading. He will grant you a true repentance and redemption from sin at once. Then there will be great joy and peace in your heart. As I had written, when I committed my life to the Lord, a peace which the world cannot give, filled my heart.
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
My dear sisters, none of you should perish. None of you should go behind sin. Get filled with this holy divine peace immediately and arise and shine for the Lord.
What should we do to receive this peace?
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You’ (Isaiah 26:3).
According to this promise, first of all, accept Him as your personal Saviour and hold on to Him firmly. It is very, very important that we should get united with Him. We read in the Bible that even Jesus Christ was one with God (John 10:30).
My dear sisters and young children! To receive this experience, hold on to the Lord. Let Him be your only friend! We read in the Bible, ‘Remember your Creator in the days of youth’ (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Accordingly, remember Him always. Then He will give you His divine joy. In my life, when I was studying, many girls tried to become my friends. But I only held on to the Lord and hence I was always happy in Him with the knowledge, ‘He is my Beloved; He is sufficient for me’ I did not find human friendship to be necessary.
Next, every one of us ought to have the divine life of completely trusting Him. ‘He who trusts in the LORD will be prospered. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD (Proverbs 28:25; Jeremiah 17:7). According to these Scriptures, when we place our entire trust on Him, He will change our lives into a blessed and prosperous one as He did for Ruth. ‘The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought’ (Isaiah 58:11). When I thus held on to the Lord firmly, He gave me divine peace in abundance even in the midst of so many losses and sorrows. Even today I don’t worry when I have to be alone on several occasions. I would always keep singing the Tamil song, ‘Jesus is sufficient for me…” The reason, I know pretty well that He perfects everything for me (Psalm 138:8). If we keep carrying all unwanted burdens and worries, we would end up in tears and sorrow. Dear sisters, pour out your heart in the presence of the Lord. Hold onto Him firmly. Plead to Him. He will grant you His divine peace and joy in abundance and give you His rich blessings all through your life!
