The Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place (Deuteronomy 1:31).
Turning back to the past days of your life would fill you with gratefulness for the loving God who carried you on His shoulders. Think of all the bad and worst storms of life you crossed. If it were not for the Father in Heaven, you would not have survived. He supplied you with grace and strength to cross over! The Word of God declares, “The Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place” (Deuteronomy 1:31). Further consoling is His promise, “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4). These words of comfort are sufficient to face the unknown future. He will carry you through. You will not falter. You might be weak, but He is so strong to lift you up from the problems and grant you victory.
My father was deputed on military service to Italy during the Second World War. They battled against the big cities in Italy and captured them. Later, the Army Chief ordered every family to take care of each soldier. My father too, stayed with a family. They fed him and every morning after he left, they would wash his clothes, press them and keep them neat. His shoes would be well polished and kept aside.
Beloved, if an Army Chief shows his best care for the soldiers, your Father in Heaven who formed you in your mother’s womb will He not care for you more than that. He has counted even the number of hairs in your head. Bible assures “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him” (Psalm 103:13). He will send His mercy and favour to make you glad. He will be with you to guard you against all dangers. His loving embrace heals all your wounds. Submit yourself under His care. Be encouraged reading “for He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:11,12). Let not the needs of this world sink you in a sea of worry. God will fight all your battles and carry you across the struggles to see His goodness.
Prayer:
Dear Father,
You are the One who carried me this far as a loving father. Into Your caring hands, I entrust my life. You are my shelter and refuge in distressed times. In You, I am safe. Lord, take my hands and lead me on to cross the hurdles. When I feel weak, carry me through to see your wonders. Yes Lord, I need Your grace. Empower me to bring glory to Your name. Cover me under Your wings.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
